Starboard offers a robust training curriculum. Starboard has developed a multimedia training methodology based on the tactical and strategic needs of implementing Maximo that is easily adaptable to meet or exceed specific client needs. This methodology includes using the following media that support recognized standards of delivery:

  • Interactive On-Line Learning (IOL) in Shareable Content Object Model (SCORM) compliant formats
  • Recorded Task Demos (RTD) recorded and delivered via client web services or YouTube Channels
  • Instructor Led On-Line Learning (ILOL) using web delivery tools such as WebEx
  • Instructor Led Classroom Learning (ILCL)
  • One-on-One Coaching (OC)
  • Cheat Sheets (single task instruction delivered via hard-copy or printable from client web services).

IOL and RTD learning is just the beginning. Once a baseline of knowledge is established, individuals and small groups then attend job specific role-based training, usually in ILCL or OC environments where they learn to apply the concepts and basic functionality they previously learned to the specific tasks they will perform in Maximo. Should the client choose not to use the IOL courseware, we will provide the experience using ILOL learning, starting with general courses like Asset Management and Inventory Management followed by task coaching as identified.

A value added services that Starboard is able to provide is a “Train-the-Trainer” program which may offer cost advantages when training a large number of users and when training will become an on-going process. In providing a “Train the Trainer” approach, the initial courses for the trainers will also provide some instruction on how to facilitate training classes. Discussion will include common questions and issues encountered during training and how to address them, class pace, and student interaction. Training guides will be developed for each course, offering instructors a quick glance at the course objectives, course outline, and classroom exercises they should cover as part of the training.

Starboard will develop a training plan that includes the types of users, topics they will be trained in, schedule for training, training calendar, and instructor schedule. Starboard will also provide custom training materials for the end-user training based on the Maximo roles users will fulfill. These materials will contain screens and work processes specific to the client, and will serve as a supplement to delivered IBM user guides and other publicly available materials.
